Where to post a game dev job (2026)
The short answer: post game dev jobs on IndieGuild (free for paid, contract and rev share roles, no cut, and people who fit get the role in their inbox), Hitmarker (big games jobs board with free posting), Work With Indies (paid board for indie studios), r/gameDevClassifieds for paid gigs and r/INAT for rev share teams, Remote Game Jobs ($29 per post, remote only), InGame Job (from $25 per post), game dev Discord hiring channels, LinkedIn, and your own careers page. Paid indie roles fit IndieGuild, Work With Indies and r/gameDevClassifieds; rev share roles fit IndieGuild and r/INAT; big salaried studio roles also fit Hitmarker and LinkedIn.
Where you post depends on the job. A salaried studio role and a rev share pixel artist need very different places. Here's what each board is good for, what it costs, and the catch.
Full disclosure: I founded IndieGuild, so it's on this list. I've put its downside right next to everyone else's.
Where to post game dev jobs
IndieGuild
Good for: paid indie game jobs, from one-off gigs and contracts to salaried roles, plus rev share, for composers, sound designers, voice actors, artists, VFX artists, programmers, designers, writers, translators, marketers and more. You set up a free studio page and post a role in about a minute, with up to 4 roles per studio, and creators whose craft fits get it in their inbox and can pitch you. You can tick "Human-made work only" on a role. It's free and takes no cut, and you talk to people directly.
Downside: it's newer than the big boards (it started in October 2026), so it's smaller. It's built for indie teams, so a big AAA studio will reach more people on the large boards.
Hitmarker
Good for: one of the biggest jobs boards for games and esports, with game design, art, audio, programming and freelance categories. It has a free option for posting a job, so it's an easy add for a real studio role.
Downside: it's a general games industry board, so your indie role sits next to big-studio and esports jobs, and you'll sort more applicants who aren't a fit.
Work With Indies
Good for: a job board just for indie games. Good for a proper paid role at an indie studio, because the people browsing already want to work on indie games.
Downside: studios pay to post, and it's a listing, so you wait for applications. It fits a real role better than a one-off task.
r/gameDevClassifieds and r/INAT
Good for: free and busy. r/gameDevClassifieds is for paid gigs ([PAID] posts), and r/INAT ("I need a team") is for rev share and hobby teams. You'll usually get replies fast.
Downside: you'll sort a lot of DMs and quality varies. Each sub has strict post formats, so read the rules first and say the pay up front.
Remote Game Jobs
Good for: remote-only games jobs, with the region and timezone spelled out on every listing. Posting a job costs $29.
Downside: it skews to full-time and contract studio roles, so it's less of a fit for a small gig or rev share.
InGame Job
Good for: a global games industry job board. A single job post is $25 and stays up 30 days, with paid boosts and candidate database access on top.
Downside: it's built around studio hiring and recruiters, so it's more than a small indie team usually needs.
Game dev Discord servers
Good for: most big game dev communities have a hiring or for-hire channel. You meet people who already hang out with devs and can see how they talk about their work.
Downside: every server has its own rules, posts scroll away fast, and you often need to be a regular member before people pay attention.
LinkedIn and your own careers page
Good for: salaried roles. Studio careers pages are where a lot of game people look first, and job aggregators like GameJobs.co pull listings from studio pages, so a public careers page helps your job travel further.
Downside: it's built for full-time jobs. A one-off freelance or rev share role gets lost there.
Which one should I use?
- Paid job on an indie game (gig, contract or salaried): IndieGuild, r/gameDevClassifieds and a Discord hiring channel.
- Rev share or hobby team: r/INAT, or an IndieGuild role labeled rev share or hobby.
- Longer paid role at an indie studio: IndieGuild plus Work With Indies, and Hitmarker if you want more reach.
- Big salaried studio job: IndieGuild, Hitmarker, LinkedIn, Remote Game Jobs or InGame Job, and your own careers page.
- Remote only: Remote Game Jobs, or say remote in your IndieGuild role (most indie work is remote anyway).
What to put in the post
Wherever you post, the roles that get good replies say the same few things up front: what the game is (one line plus a screenshot or trailer), exactly what you need, the pay (paid with a budget, rev share, or hobby), the timeline, and how to apply. Saying the pay first saves everyone time. If you're not sure what to budget, the price guides have sourced ranges for music, art, voice, programmers, trailers and more. For rev share, read the rev share agreement checklist before anyone starts.
