Where to find paid game dev gigs (2026)
The short answer: look on IndieGuild (paid, rev share and hobby game roles in one place, with paid ones marked, free with no cut), Work With Indies (paid indie studio jobs), r/gameDevClassifieds (paid gigs; r/INAT is for rev share), Hitmarker (big games jobs board with a freelance filter), Casting Call Club for voice acting, Upwork and Fiverr (general freelance sites with fees), and the hiring channels of game dev Discord servers. Start where game devs post first, then add the general freelance sites.
If you make art, music, sound, voices, code or words for games, these are the places paid game work actually gets posted. Here's what each is good for and the catch.
Full disclosure: I founded IndieGuild, so it's on this list. I've put its downside next to everyone else's.
Where paid game work gets posted
IndieGuild
Good for: game roles for composers, sound designers, voice actors, artists, VFX artists, programmers, designers, writers, translators and more, each one labeled paid, rev share or hobby so you know before you reply. It also lists paid roles studios posted on other boards, marked with where they came from. Make a free profile with your work and rates, and roles that fit your craft come to your inbox. It's free and takes no cut of your gigs.
Downside: it's newer (since October 2026), so there are fewer roles than on the giant boards, and you need a free account to see how to apply to roles listed from other boards.
Work With Indies
Good for: paid jobs at indie studios, from art and audio to programming. Studios pay to post, so the roles are usually real paid work.
Downside: it's competitive, and a lot of roles are full-time or long contracts rather than quick gigs.
r/gameDevClassifieds
Good for: [PAID] posts from devs who need something made, plus [FOR HIRE] threads where you can post your own work and rates. r/INAT is the rev share and hobby side.
Downside: posts move fast and get a lot of replies, so you need to answer quickly with a short, relevant pitch. Read each sub's rules first.
Hitmarker
Good for: one of the biggest games and esports jobs boards, with a freelance filter and categories for art, audio, design and programming.
Downside: most listings are studio jobs, many full-time, so freelance gigs are a small slice.
Casting Call Club
Good for: voice acting. Projects list each role and often the pay, and you audition right on the site.
Downside: lots of projects are unpaid, and paid roles get a lot of auditions.
Upwork and Fiverr
Good for: a steady flow of general freelance work with payment handled for you. Some clients do post game projects.
Downside: most clients aren't game devs, competition is heavy, and both take a fee from your earnings (Fiverr keeps 20% of each order).
Game dev Discord servers
Good for: the for-hire and hiring channels of big game dev communities. You meet devs where they already hang out.
Downside: every server has its own rules, and posts scroll away fast, so it works best once you're a regular.

How to land one
Paid gigs go to the people who reply fast with one relevant piece, not a link to everything. Say your rate or ask about the budget early, and mention one detail from their post so it's clear you read it. My guide on how to pitch a game dev has examples, and how to find indie game dev work covers building a profile devs want to hire from.
